ensuring that we provide quality food and essential supplies to our community.
What Makes Us Different?
Unlike many traditional food banks, our open food distribution project focuses on fresh, nutritious options. We offer fresh fruit and vegetables, healthy ready meals, tinned and long-life foods. We offer hot home made nutritious soup in winter. We strongly believe in promoting healthy eating to support long-term well-being for everyone in our community. We are also tackling food waste. Additionally, through our Bleeding Hearts Project, we provide sanitary products and incontinence pads in partnership with Bloody Good Period. Period poverty is a real challenge, with the average lifetime cost of menstruation reaching £4,800. We believe no one should struggle to afford essential hygiene products.
Together, we are building a stronger, healthier community.
To help our women maintain their wellbeing, positive attitudes and reduce isolation and stress, WAND UK is offering free online dance sessions every Wednesday at 11 am. We have a weekly attendance of 10-12 people.
About our instructor AnaE
I have had passion for dancing and exercise since I began to walk. I absolutely love teaching Zumba classes and seeing the progress in others. Every class feels like a party, while getting fitter and healthier. I am a licensed Zumba teacher since November 2019.
The benefits of dance
Maintaining positive relationships may just rank up there with healthy eating and exercise. Being socially engaged leads to increased happiness, reduced stress, and a stronger immune system.
Feedback
Nilay: Dancing makes me happy and it lifts my spirit up. I find many dancing movements under Zumba classes are the best. Especially low impact is suitable for my age group. I also like challenge and join high impact as well.
In Covid-19 lock down online dancing movement and Zumba kept me going. I am grateful for that.
Merilyn: It was great makes my body to be active the whole day and feel happy. I feel so glad when I see other participants dancing together, it helped me feel less isolated.
Anastassia: The sessions made staying at home and lockdown bearable and definitely bring a breath of fresh air to the week.

At WAND UK, we believe that gardening is more than planting seeds—it’s about fostering growth, building connections, and nurturing a sense of belonging. Our Green Shots Gardening Group meets once a month, offering a space where community members can come together to learn about gardening, share their experiences, and enjoy the therapeutic benefits of working with nature.
Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just curious to give it a try, this group is open to everyone. Join us to develop new skills, share your passion, and contribute to a greener, healthier community.
At WAND UK, we understand the impact loneliness and isolation can have on mental and emotional well-being. Our Befriending Program seeks to reduce these challenges by building meaningful connections within the community.
We actively assess individual needs and match participants with a befriender where possible. Once connected, the befriender and participant communicate regularly, offering companionship, support, and a sense of belonging.
If you’re feeling isolated or would like to volunteer as a befriender, please get in touch with us to learn more or register your interest.
Together, we can create a stronger, more connected community.
